"Developing the Atmosphere"

Matt grew up in Seattle and Maryland, playing piano and gravitating to trombone as his primary musical muse. Now living in New York, he plays swing music, jazz standards, and Big Band classics.  He graduated from the Manhattan School of Music and received his master's degree from Julliard, while working with the top talent in New York and DC. He worked on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire with Vince Giordano's Nighthawks. He performs and arranges for the band he founded, "Grandpa Musselman & His Syncopators." He also performs with "Naomi and Her Handsome Devils," a Swing Band, with Naomi Uyama as Bandleader and on Vocals. "Dances with Vice" is an additional jazz ensemble in his repertoire. He travels extensively and has performed in the World Jazz Festival in Amsterdam on more than one occasion, and annually travels to the Netherlands to perform in a Swing Dance Festival.

In 2013, Matt performed as part of the Julliard Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Julliard Faculty member, Xavier Davis. The performance included an original composition by Matt, "Old Johns". He also performed in the Frank Kimbrough Ensemble in Julliard's Paul Hall in 2014.

Matt composed an original score to accompany many of Jane's videos and is a consultant to the musical selection for the videos.
